About Us

The State Bank of Terril was chartered on October 13, 1928, when the bank building was purchased from the trustee of the closed First National Bank. The bank charter was moved to Spirit Lake in 1965, and a branch was retained in Terril. The name was changed to The State Bank recognizing that the bank serves two communities. The 1928 charter is the oldest continuous charter in Dickinson County.

The bank is operating in the same location today and combines technology and quality service in order to offer safe banking in the area, both rural and city.

The State Bank is proud to be an Iowa Independent Bank. We are a Commercial Bank that's owned and operated by local people whose concerns and interest are in seeing our community grow and prosper. If the "personal touch" appeals to you, then we're the bank you're looking for.

NOTICE OF CHANGES IN TEMPORARY FDIC INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR TRANSACTION ACCOUNTS
All funds in a "noninterest-bearing transaction account" are insured in full by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from December 31, 2010 through December 31, 2012. This temporary unlimited coverage is in addition to, and separate from, the coverage of at least $250,000 available to depositors under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.

The term "noninterest-bearing transaction account" includes a traditional checking account or demand deposit account on which the insured depository institution pays no interest. It also includes Interest on Lawyers Trus Accounts ("IOLTAs"). It does not include other accounts, such as traditional checking or demand deposit accounts that may earn interest, NOW accounts, money-market deposit accounts.

For more information about temporary FDIC insurance coverage of transaction accounts, visit www.fdic.gov.
